The Octopus Home Mini and the inverter may measure at different points in the home and update at different intervals. If the mismatch is persistent or significant, send screenshots from both systems with timestamps, site details and firmware/app versions to support.

A small charge or discharge reading at 100% can be caused by balancing, measurement tolerance or an app display issue. If the behaviour started after an update or looks abnormal, send screenshots, timestamps, firmware version and the inverter serial number to support.

This may be an app labelling or configuration issue rather than a hardware issue. Please send the inverter serial number, installation details and screenshots to support so the installed model and app profile can be checked.

Complete Eleven installer training or your first Eleven installation with support from the team. Installers who want to be listed should provide their logo, address, coverage area and contact details.

Each inverter circuit should be protected by a suitably rated MCB or RCBO, selected according to the inverter model, cable size, installation method and current UK wiring regulations. The protective device should be sized by the installer as part of the electrical design, rather than selected from a generic rule.

RCD protection may be required depending on the installation arrangement, earthing system, cable route, consumer unit design and whether the circuit supplies backup/EPS loads. Where RCD protection is required, the installer should select the correct RCD type in line with BS 7671 and the latest Eleven installation manual. UK installations commonly use RCD/RCBO protection for circuits where required by the Wiring Regulations, including certain concealed cable routes and domestic circuits.

For inverter circuits, installers should also consider DC leakage characteristics. Different RCD types respond to different residual-current waveforms; Type A, Type F and Type B devices have different capabilities, and the correct type depends on the inverter design and manufacturer instructions.

Where there is any uncertainty, the installer should contact Eleven technical support before installation.

A wireless CT solution is in development. Until then, installers should use the supported wired CT approach described in the current product documentation.

The CT clamp must be installed in the correct orientation so the inverter measures import and export correctly. Follow the current installation manual for the inverter model and check readings during commissioning.

Some Eleven battery types use DIP switches and the app guides installers through the correct settings during commissioning. Galvani stackable battery ranges do not require DIP switches. Always follow the current manual for the exact battery model.

Commissioning is completed through the Eleven app using Bluetooth. Once the system has been installed correctly, commissioning is designed to be quick and straightforward, typically less than 5 minutes.

Installers should download the Eleven Energy app, sign up as an installer and use the installer invitation process to unlock installer permissions for commissioning and site management.

Eleven Energy’s app services are hosted in the UK, and customer data is managed within the UK.

The Eleven app shows energy flow, solar generation, battery status, grid import/export and household consumption. It also supports commissioning, smart schedules, work modes and system monitoring.

Yes. Eleven inverters can operate without cloud access. Some features, such as smart optimisation, would not operate, but the inverter would continue functioning in self-consumption mode.

Yes, some local monitoring and control is available via Bluetooth. When connected locally to the inverter, you can view system status, including battery, PV and grid information, and configure work modes such as timed charging and discharging.

Home Assistant integration currently uses the Eleven cloud API for monitoring and switching work modes. We do not currently offer a fully local-only Home Assistant integration or a supported direct local API for third-party control.

At the moment, the inverter connects via the WiFi dongle and we do not offer hardwired Ethernet as standard. We plan to introduce an Ethernet connection option as an add-on for already installed inverters.

Yes. Export limits are set during commissioning so the system can comply with the export limit agreed with the DNO.

Yes, if your system exports unused solar or battery energy to the grid and you want to be paid for it. Your energy supplier may ask for your export MPAN, DNO confirmation and installer certification details.

Smart Schedules let customers control when the battery charges, exports, or prioritises self-consumption. They can be used to take advantage of off-peak tariffs, export windows and household energy-use patterns.

Eleven supports Intelligent Octopus Go, standard Octopus Flux, Agile Octopus for import and export, and standard Octopus tariffs including Cosy. Intelligent Flux is not yet supported while we wait for the integration process for that tariff.

Eleven Energy is currently focused on the UK market. We are exploring international expansion, but we do not have confirmed timelines to share at this stage.

We do not provide direct retail pricing lists or installation cost estimates to end users. Pricing is available through trusted installers or via Midsummer Energy using an installer trade account.

Eleven Energy supplies systems through its UK distributor, Midsummer Energy, and through trained installers. Homeowners should speak to an installer for system design, installation and pricing.

The EPS output is limited by the inverter rating and the backup design. Some homes may back up selected essential circuits, while larger or more advanced backup designs may require additional equipment and careful load management.

All Eleven inverters include an EPS port as standard, which can provide backup power to selected circuits. We are also developing a dedicated gateway to enable enhanced backup functionality and more seamless changeover.

The system is designed for low maintenance. Keep the inverter and batteries clear of debris, check the app periodically and contact support if the system behaves unexpectedly or repeatedly fails to charge or discharge as expected.

Yes. Eleven inverters are type-tested and listed for UK grid connection.

The battery management system manages and balances connected batteries. Warranty coverage for an added battery is based on that battery’s commissioning date. Always check product-generation compatibility before adding batteries to an existing system.

Different battery types should not be mixed on the same battery port. Where an inverter has two independent battery ports, different compatible battery types may be possible on separate ports, but the design should be confirmed with Eleven Energy before installation.

Up to eight 4.5 kWh battery packs can be connected to a single battery port on the inverter, giving up to 33 kWh usable storage. Larger systems are possible on inverters with two independent battery ports, subject to correct design and compatibility checks.

Eleven battery modules are based on 4.5 kWh sodium packs. Options include wall-mounted, rack-mounted and stackable configurations, depending on the product range and installation requirements.

Eleven offers single-phase hybrid inverters across the North Sea and Mediterranean Sea ranges. Available single-phase options include 3.6 kW, 5 kW, 6 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW and 12 kW models, depending on the product range and distributor availability.

We also offer the Celtic Sea 12 kW three-phase hybrid inverter.

Yes. Eleven sodium batteries are designed to operate in cold conditions, with discharge capability down to -30°C and charging capability down to -20°C.

Some performance reduction may occur below 0°C, but the system is designed for reliable year-round use in typical UK conditions.

Eleven batteries are currently manufactured in China and designed in the UK. Eleven Energy is actively exploring UK manufacturing opportunities as the market develops.

The Eleven Energy inverter can provide backup power through its EPS output to selected circuits during a power cut. However, where the home’s solar PV system uses SolarEdge optimisers, microinverters or similar module-level electronics, the PV system will usually shut down during a blackout for safety reasons. This means the home is unlikely to have solar generation available during the outage, even if the Eleven battery continues supplying backed-up circuits.

For these installations, backup should be designed on the basis that the battery is the main source of power during a blackout. The exact behaviour will depend on the PV inverter, optimiser/microinverter setup and wiring design, so installers should confirm the proposed configuration before installation.

The system can be configured with energy monitoring to help identify EV charging loads. In supported configurations, Shelly monitoring can help the system treat an EV charger differently from normal household loads.

We do not currently offer a dedicated bidirectional EV charger or recommend a specific third-party EV charger for direct system integration. Our energy management approach supports Shelly CT sensors, allowing the platform to monitor third-party EV chargers.

Eleven batteries are designed to operate with Eleven sodium-compatible inverters. If you are considering a third-party inverter or off-grid configuration, contact Eleven Energy before specifying the system so compatibility and support can be confirmed.

Yes. An Eleven inverter and battery system can work with a wind turbine system as an AC-coupled battery storage solution, similar to how it can be added alongside an existing solar inverter.

In this setup, the wind turbine inverter remains in place, and the Eleven system monitors the AC output from the turbine inverter. A Shelly CT sensor is required so the Eleven system can detect when the wind turbine is exporting surplus energy and use that energy to charge the battery.

The exact setup will depend on the wind turbine inverter, site wiring and export arrangement, so the installation should be designed and commissioned by a qualified installer.

All of our inverters are equipped with an EPS (Emergency Power Supply) backup port. The EPS port can supply selected backup circuits during a power outage. Your installer should design the backup circuit around the inverter rating and the loads you want to support. To use this, it requires extra earthing and minor configure changes to your homes consumer unit. If you are looking to make use of the EPS, please let your installer know so that they can design the system to work off grid safely.

 

Eleven inverters include a 10-year warranty. Eleven batteries are covered for 10 years from commissioning, subject to the warranty terms, operating conditions and throughput limits stated in the current warranty document.

Eleven inverters are IP65 rated and can be installed outdoors. However, we recommend fitting a small rain canopy where possible to reduce direct exposure to rain and weathering.

Battery installation depends on the battery model and enclosure. Volta batteries are IP20 rated, so they should be installed indoors unless used with an approved Eleven outdoor enclosure. Galvani batteries are IP65 rated and can be installed outdoors. Installers should always follow the latest installation manual for the specific product being installed.

Due to the properties of sodium chemistry, standard inverters will not be able to fully charge or discharge Eleven Energy batteries. To get the optimum performance out of Eleven Energy batteries, they must be paired with one of our inverters.

Yes. Eleven inverters can operate without solar input. This can suit homes without suitable roof space for solar or customers who want to charge the battery from cheaper off-peak electricity and use it later.

Sodium-ion batteries offer excellent thermal stability, operate across a wide temperature range, avoid rare earth mineral and lithium mining concerns whilst providing a safer, more sustainable alternative for home energy storage.

Yes. If you already have a solar PV system with a hybrid or string inverter, an Eleven inverter and battery system can be added to store excess solar generation.

During commissioning, the installer can enable AC Coupling, which tells the Eleven inverter that there are other generators on site and allows it to charge the battery when those systems export surplus energy.

The Eleven inverter can also be AC-coupled and DC-coupled at the same time. This means existing panels can remain connected through another inverter, while additional solar strings can also be connected directly to the Eleven inverter where the installation design allows.

Please note that AC coupling with an existing solar system requires a Shelly CT sensor. The sensor monitors the output from your existing string inverter so the Eleven system can detect surplus generation and charge the battery accordingly.
